Wild Things
Kindergartners read “Where the Wild Things are” by Maurice Sendak. Students then created their own wild things picking different characteristics for their arms, legs, body, facial features, etc. Using complimentary colors, Kindergartners drew their wild things in crayon and then covered them in wild water color.

Birdhouse Architects
Second-graders read the book “Iggy Peck, Architect” written by Andrea Beaty and illustrated by David Roberts. In this book, a creative second-grader, Iggy Peck, finds that his passion for architecture can help get his classmates out of a bind. Students then looked at imaginative and crazy architecture from around the world to inspire their designs for a birdhouse. After drawing a plan, second-graders painted papers with tempera, added designs in oil pastels, collaged together different papers to construct their birdhouses, and finally added sharpie pen.
